Works In Progress

The books in the Elspeth Duff series are always in progress.

Number seven, A Blackmailed in Bermuda, is currently undergoing its second review by my new editor. I am planning to have it published this winter.

Number eight, working title A Presumption in Perthshire, is in its third draft, and will be published next year. This one deals with the criminal justice system in Scotland, quite different from the ones in England, Canada, and America. Presumption here is a term in law meaning ‘an inference of the truth of the fact from other facts proved, admitted or judicially noted’, such as ‘presumed innocent’. Juries in Scotland can find a defendant guilty, innocent, or ‘not proven’. Hmm.
